The Dirty Energy Source

Do you want to make a spreadsheet about spreadsheets?
Do you still need to figure out what two other fandoms you should request beside the only one you really want fic for?
Or are you trolling ALL the letter posts for placeholders, just so you can write those people some nice, dry coal?

We want to know all about it.

Is it a protest at having Natasha rejected from her own comic?

That was also Gay Bashing Dragon year. A fine vintage.

Re: Any fandoms in the summary you wish you could see the letters for?

that sounds like the worst euphemism ever

I doubt it, since Liho was actually a nominated character so this person was probably planning the request before that happened. I guess they just really want fic about a cat saving Christmas.

I feel like there's a double entendre about sticky buns I'm missing here.

Probably so. I'm pretty sure they're new to Yuletide, too, so they make have decide to err on the side of more information rather than less.

YES ALL THE PUNS. But yes, I agree. There needs to be more of this fandom!

Re: Similar treat prompts--who gets the goodie?

(Anonymous) 2014-10-21 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
I was once co-recipient of a treat, and I was just as pleased as I would've been otherwise!

I don't think the other recipient ever commented, though.

You can do that... gift a treat to two different people?

Pretty much done waiting. Putting a post together tonight, posting it in the morning unless someone beats me to it.

AYRT. Yes, you can gift to multiple recipients. Thanks, coalie!

It's not really encouraged though. If you're going to do that, you need to wait to make sure each recipient has another gift first.

A couple of video game fandoms I saw:

Obviously, yes. If I decide to treat them both, I'll need to wait.

The one who is the hottest.

For example, if one of them is in the southern hemisphere, it should definitely go to them. There's gotta be some compensation for summer Christmases.

I like all the things this person says they like about the canon! I feel exactly the same way they say they feel about these characters! We even used weirdly . . . identical . . . phrasing. Oh wait.

I think our likes are so similar because they actually cribbed from my letter. That has not only soured me on treating them, it's kind of soured me on offering those characters at all, in case we match.

Re: Yuleporn!

Yeah. Offer fandoms where there's only one request, and they want porn. Like mine.

Give this Australian coalie ALL THE TREATS! Pwease? :)

Yep. I only treat babes.

lol, you are not a special snowflake and your yuleletter is not worth plagiarizing. They have similar taste to you because you have pedestrian taste and they used similar phrasing because there's only so many ways to say "I like a, b, c, and d."

Re: Letters that are perfect except for one small detail

(Anonymous) 2014-10-21 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Haha you are not a unique frozen crystalline structure and your exchange missive is not worth copying. They have a taste not unlike yours because your interests are commonplace and they used a similar sentence structure because what you are trying to say has limited variation."

See that? Does it look familiar? Maybe like the exact same thing you wrote, but with awkward synonyms swapped in, and a sort of feeble effort near the ending to appear original?

Now imagine that across multiple paragraphs, and imagine you have a job (wait, I'm not done) that actually involves watching for plagiarism. You would get pretty good at spotting it after a while, which would make the painfully obvious and amateurish types all the moreso.

Thanks for playing, though! Your earnest aggression is super adorable.

This is the one where one guy gets literally shot in the butt, right? I think I remember the eggs thing--packed in straw? He later comes to someone's door and is like "hey they put them in cartons now which is a lot better!"?

?

My indignant Aussie pride wants to insist that summer christmas is clearly the superior christmas, but at the same time I can't turn down grounds for people to give me more treats. :V

Re: Letters that use any correctly

(Anonymous) 2014-10-21 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Holy shit, I had not seen that letter and now I hope with all my heart that I get her as my recipient; I'm comfortable with three of her four canons and each of them have multiple prompts out of the ones she offered that I could happily work with.
