I think there's a good possibility of matching if you offer two fandoms/characters that someone requests--that's what happened for me last year, at least.

ayrt No, that wasn't at you! Sorry, I didn't mean that to be directed at you, specifically. It was directed as the community as a whole. Every time someone wants to talk about something with letters, it's all, "THERE'S ALREADY A THREAD FOR THAT", and the latest "good letters" thread is from the last post and hasn't been updated since the last post? It's time to get over repeat threads, community. They aren't hurting anyone and there should really be a thread for good letters that's been updated since the latest influx of letters.

Doesn't that one match just on fandom and not even on characters or specific poly arrangements? I remember looking at it last year and thinking, "Yeah, no", but I can't remember why. I think that might have been it?

I wish they were clearer about what they needed it for. I'd absolutely donate if I thought it was going towards a paid project manager to get the AO3 coding in shape, or the site out of beta ffs.

So that's two for two Black Widow requests that only want fic about Natasha's cat. I am honestly baffled.

I'm thinking it's some sort of backlash against the fact that Natasha as a character went from just under the character limit to just over it during the review period (mostly due to incorrectly tagged MCU fic) and was rejected. Obviously, most of the people who nommed Black Widow the comic...wanted Black Widow the character. I could see the fandom deciding that requesting the cat was code for "hey, if you want to include Natasha I wouldn't complain".

Maybe they think the easiest way to get around Natasha being banned from her own comic is requesting her cat since she'll presumably show up for feedings and pettings? (Second writer having a paragraph dedicated to who she ships Natasha with would support it in that case, at least.)

Ohhh, maybe. Jeez, if that's the case then I wish they'd just request other characters and put in their optional details that they'd love if Natasha were included, but that's just me not wanting to write from a cat's POV. Maybe catfic really is the ideal second choice for one or both of these people!
