The Dirty Energy Source

Do you want to make a spreadsheet about spreadsheets?
Do you still need to figure out what two other fandoms you should request beside the only one you really want fic for?
Or are you trolling ALL the letter posts for placeholders, just so you can write those people some nice, dry coal?

We want to know all about it.

::waves the tragically murdered fandom banner::

Whishaw mentioned the possibility of a Christmas special, I think, but it didn't happen, and of course Capaldi and Chancellor are currently busy.

But I'd happily write A/B or C/D or B&C friendship, or A&C, A&D, A&B&C&D( hanging out, or C&F etc. I just think this person is setting themselves up for disappointment, and feel bad for their future assigned author (which the universe will probably decide is me) because there isn't even a hint of a gen out.

"Ms. Prysselius was the opposite of what I admired in Pippi: She was very girly (in a badly dressed kind of way), she was a party-pooper trying to ruin Pippi's wonderful world, and she was sort of hysterical. Not "hysterical" as in funny, but as in nervous, easily scared, fidgeting, and quite obviously suffering from not getting any (her behavior around Pippi's dad when he finally arrives drives the point home)."

If fate chooses you, write a close B&C friendship fic so the recip could squint for ship intimacy or whatever, if you're ok with writing friendship fic?

Ah, the femgenficathon! I remember that. Didn't remember it was her though, so thanks for the reminder.

Bleh, I wish people could learn to spell bestiality.

No more beastiality and cannons!

(Anonymous) 2014-10-23 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
na

Two reasons.

1. She will absolutely play the disability card and publicly accuse them of ableism if they fail to accommodate her special snowflakism. (Even when her disability was not involved in any way.) Anybody who's spent more than a couple of minutes on Tumblr knows exactly how that particular wank would go.

Unless you're familiar with her history then it would be easy to see the mods as being unreasonable for not allowing an extension this one time. It's only when you realise that she's spent years suspiciously vanishing from the internet for just that particular week then turning up immediately after the deadline that it becomes obvious what a needy drama-whore she is.

So it would be a bunch of people signal boosting her criticism of the mods who would then have to do damage control to stop Yuletide from getting an undeserved bad rep.

2. She has fuck all else in her life, while the mods have full time jobs and irl responsibilities. That means she has way more time to devote to wailing and wanking and being disruptive than they have available for dealing with her shit. Letting her have her own way might stick in their craw, but it's probably less work for them than the alternative.

No sign up summary until December 25th.

It's cool to look at but I think it would be an improvement if you could only look at it after the collection was open. People would be more surprised by what fic they get as they couldn't see offers, there'd be less waffling on offering big-for-Yuletide fandoms, more people might be inclined to post letters, and it'd be more difficult to game the system.

+all of the above, morbane.

this is why it's easier for everyone to ignore her in chat instead of kicking her out or telling her to shut up.

There are bestiality requests in Yuletide?!

It crops up in DNW lists.

I'm game planning for it, but I feel bad because it won't be what they actually want. I'm also eyeing the other fandoms they've requested, because brushing up on a TV show I half watched might be easier.

Re: Bad Letters

First of all: Why are all the active people in these films male? The creative kid, Kevin, is male. And the perseverant, if somewhat unskilled, thieves are males. The most prominent female is Kevin's mother, who's mostly just missing and worrying about her kid in a pretty passive way.
Also, I feel the film is pretty two dimensional in its depiction of the two thieves: They look like homeless people, but they're only "explained" as being evil thugs.

There goes my Home Alone offer...

Nah. If you're being an asshole and anonfail, you're asking for it. It isn't a problem if you stand by what you say, anon or not.

Re: Do you have a favorite offer? Do you have a favorite request?

(Anonymous) 2014-10-23 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a letter I desperately want to match to.

I've also realised, as the offers go up and up, that I have a fandom I'm not so keen to receive fic in as I was when I decided to nominate it. But now I've talked it up a lot, and pimped it in the pimping post, so I feel I can't really get rid of it now. Them's the breaks. Maybe I'll be excited about it again by reveals.

Tbh, when I first saw that formatting (I've seen at least one other letter use it too), I didn't even pay attention to the icons and my eye just translated it as "things in a bullet list" XD I like that it's such a simple and straightforward way if listing likes/dislikes and prompts for a DYW letter..
