The Dirty Energy Source

Do you want to make a spreadsheet about spreadsheets?
Do you still need to figure out what two other fandoms you should request beside the only one you really want fic for?
Or are you trolling ALL the letter posts for placeholders, just so you can write those people some nice, dry coal?

We want to know all about it.

But the women DO shine in Yuletide.

*confused long-time participant who offers and requests mainly female characters*

Way to request a character (Leith) that isn't in the Reign tag set and then say omg don't ship them with anyone else or you'll ruin my yuletide

Speaking as someone who's actually requesting all female characters this year: but coalie, I think the exchange you're looking for might be femslashex, not Yuletide.

OP

Yep. I've been amusing myself by thinking of that entire part of the thread as one person replying to themselves over and over.

Or rarewomen.

There are two Loki/Horse requesters. One wants the explicit detail and the other doesn't. Go with the one who does.

Where are all the Code Name Verity letters? I want to know if there are Maddie/Julie shippers requesting or lamers who want gen.

Tell me you're trolling. I can't believe anyone would genuinely be that STUPID.

(Anonymous) 2014-10-20 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
OMFG, I read that as "headtits" and was wondering if that's a new kink. ROFL!

lol, hell no I'm not going to ~step back~ during Yuletide. You don't want to read or write m/m, don't request or offer male characters. It's not rocket science.

Thanks! *browses*

If you have Netflix it's on there.

Now that you've pointed that one out I'm tempted by that too, except I know that I would never be able to capture Hyacinth's voice half decently.

1) You're a troll. If you're not a troll, take a step back and revaluate.

2) No, femslashex and Rare Women and all the other women-centric exchanges are for women to take center stage. Yuletide is for rare fandoms (and pairings).

Re: Letters making you re-think your offers

(Anonymous) 2014-10-20 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
It WOULD be easier for people like myself (and you, I suppose) if less of the requests in my fandoms were for slash, but Yuletide is for people who like any type of characters for pairings. I'm sure this type of thing is also a problem for people in big-for-yuletide fandoms where there's a fandom juggernaut and they come to Yuletide for something DIFFERENT. Alas, the rest of the fandom is welcome here, too.

I saw that letter and decided as much as I'll treat someone if they request Kenna/Bash, I'm taking him off my offers so I don't match with them.

Also they are not a noob. They should know better!

And live in Harmony Harmony

(Anonymous) 2014-10-20 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Now I want to write Earworms (anthropomorphic) with Always, Livin La Vida Loca and Never Gonna Give You Up as the characters. :D

Oh well. There are always next year's noms

Re: People You'd Default On

(Anonymous) 2014-10-20 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
No one. I'd suck it up and deal, and then orphan the fic so I don't have to be associated with it. The only way I'd default is if the person is requesting something that is truly horrendous, like Springtime for Hitler (and meaning it in an ironic way).

Re: Bad Letters

(Anonymous) 2014-10-20 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
I almost requested Kenna/Bash.

I may add them in, actually as I am offering them and I love them to bits and that letter pissed me right the eff off.

This, basically.

Re: Fans who love canon differently than you do

(Anonymous) 2014-10-20 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
This is how I feel about the one A Study In Emerald letter I've read. "Oh, yes, of course you want Holmes/Watson in a tiny fandom where you can actually get away with requesting them for Yuletide. Of course you do, letter-writer. That's not the most boring prompt you could give for this fandom at all!"

Re: Letters making you re-think your offers

(Anonymous) 2014-10-20 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
People who think they're entitled to offer any are fucking wild, man.

I'm glad that it gives you this much stress and messes up your whole Yuletide. Y'all crazy.

Re: People You'd Default On

(Anonymous) 2014-10-20 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, christ yes. As a person with brain problems of my own, even a whiff of the implication that unsatisfactory fic would make my recipient self-harm would be an instant default for me, no matter how great their prompts were and how nice they seemed. If it's passive-aggressive bullshit, fuck them for doing it, and if it's an authentic sentiment, they need more help than I or a gift fic can give them.

Re: Letters making you re-think your offers

(Anonymous) 2014-10-20 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
No need to worry, nonnie, this is actually us agreeing with you. You know, saying it would be easier if we could offer any, but that we know there are lots of different types of fans here.

In case that wasn't obvious.
