Repo Men, for my body horror/body acceptance kink. :(

ayrt

Haha, I'm also trying to write a Seb Stan fic :) and I actually switched my offer to PA, hoping to get Azewewish. Now that I said, it probably won't happen.

Mine is closer to being started than to being finished.

To make you suffer, anon. To make you suffer.

(But yeah get dogs to 50. It took me way too long to figure out. Fucking chocolates.)

Re: Fandoms with very low/very high letter-to-request ratios

It definitely could! I'm actually hoping to get assigned someone wanting Anne or Margaret fic, or at least fic that involves them in SOME way (honestly I would be over the moon if someone wanted TJ gen fic where he bonds with Anne or judges people with Margaret), but it is...looking like that's probably not gonna happen. Oh well. I already knew offering it hoping for unpopular characters was a long-shot, and it's not like I'm morally opposed to writing TJ fic!

(Anonymous) 2014-10-24 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
You can avoid it two other ways, too, but I don't want to say too many spoilers.

(Anonymous) 2014-10-24 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
That's true, but afaik dogs is the easiest option, if you get the chocolates in the first place. There are definitely ways to make sure you never get them at all but they are much more spoilery...

(Anonymous) 2014-10-24 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
And fix it after she eats them with yet another different skill.

Actually, I could work with a Jack and David friendship fic. Thanks for pointing me to this!

I am usually the slashiest slasher ever to slash, but no matter how hard I squint, I cannot see Thomas/Victor, and that's what both requests are for, so there's no way. But yeah, +1 on Sherman Alexie being pretty intimidating.

Wow, they would be so much better off if they didn't post a letter. I mean, lucky for people who share fandoms with them, but talk about terrible letter.

Re: Bad Letters

(Anonymous) 2014-10-24 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
In this case I think the problem with her costuming is that they're women's clothes, worn by a woman, who is loved by a main male character.

Re: Bad Letters

(Anonymous) 2014-10-24 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
One of their fandoms is something I also requested and I am now going to worry about people dropping offers because of this. I'm not saying my letter is a work of art, but it's way better than this. :(

(Anonymous) 2014-10-24 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Oho I didn't know that! Damn it now I have to play again.

(Anonymous) 2014-10-24 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I usually get past it with one of the ways to become a Lumen.

(Anonymous) 2014-10-24 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
And deciding you only hate the costuming inaccuracies on one character is odd, to say the least.

(Also what any of them where isn't mentioned in the letter at all, so this discussion is kind of weird)

(Anonymous) 2014-10-24 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Get past the chocolates, I mean, not avoid them completely.

Look at letters for Lord Peter Wimsey - he canonically has PTSD.

anon ayrt rt It's okay, coalie! You aren't being crazy repetitive. It's just a terrible enough situation that I remembered you mentioning it before. That sucks it happened to you. I hope you have a great YT this year. :)

"Any"

(Anonymous) 2014-10-24 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Re the most recent Yuletide admin post...I don't completely understand requesting 0 characters, but it's mostly because of my bad assignment last year. 0 characters, no optional details, no letter. I could understand if it was a tiny fandom with hardly any stories, so all additions would be a good thing, but it was actually a biggish fandom. It got worse when they defaulted and then never commented on the gift, so it was likely hat the nothing request just stemmed from not giving two shits.
On the bright side it would be difficult to get an assignment that I like *less* this year.

Are the people who're saying she's pretty much out on the street in her underwear wrong then? Because if that's true, the problem probably isn't that "they're women's clothes, worn by a woman".

Re: Bad Letters

(Anonymous) 2014-10-24 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Are any of the other characters dressed in what amounts to underwear (I'm taking the people defending her here at their word that that's what she's wearing)?

It's not that odd to be turned off by sexist costuming choices.

(Also what any of them where isn't mentioned in the letter at all, so this discussion is kind of weird)

Heh, it is pretty out there, but I couldn't let the comments about it not being okay to be annoyed by a character because of their design pass.

NAYRT

I am one of those people and okay, I think you might have gotten the wrong impression about what the other anon and I meant? I'm referring to her wearing outfits like this:

http://40.media.tumblr.com/8840f3301a8c6fb401280ccefb9511df/tumblr_n276fzI85i1qz7i4wo1_500.jpg

Which is an annoyance in terms of historical accuracy, because for a woman in France in this time period those are undergarments she's wearing, not a full outfit. But from a modern context she's fully clothed, and she's hardly the only character in historically inaccurate clothing. So yes, if someone thinks she's annoying enough to need to be "fixed" in a fic specifically because of her clothes (which the letter writer didn't mention, but that's where this discussion has gone), it's probably because they're women's clothes, worn by a woman.
