Intersex people can be cis! But trans clinics end up dealing w intersex people because cis intersex folks may also experience dysphoria. Some choose to treat the hormonal stuff and weird growths with gender affirming intervention, and others don't feel their body needs changing. If you're looking for gender affirmation in the form of intervention or in the form of having your body and presentation respected by your caregivers, trans clinics are most familiar with respecting identity and bodily integrity of people whose appearance may be ambiguous. Not sure why so many people in this thread are boggled by the idea that trans clinics also deal with intersex folks-- plenty of whom only discover they are intersex when they seek care.

Oh boy you're conflating a lot of things here.

Absolutely no one has said this.

I wouldn't boggle at trans clinics helping non-intersex people with PCOS either, because maybe they do have some resources that are a good match even if they weren't planned for cis people.

But PCOS doesn't in itself make anyone intersex or trans. There are a lot of cis women who can grow mustaches without even having PCOS.

This sounds hilarious.

I've done the DNA tests, I'm an XX. I have PCOS, and while I might grow a mustache that needs waxing, I definitely have big boobs, a clit, and a CIS identity.

I'm very comfortable in my identity as a CIS woman, and I think these clinics are reaching in order to expand their population in order to be more relevant. This is exactly why people distrust the gender identity movements - being told we aren't what we think we are is damn annoying. It's fine if you don't think a traditional gender ID fits you, but I really hate being told I don't fit under the traditional CIS ID because some goddamn hipster wants an excuse to classify as intersex. PCOS =/= intersex, no matter how special you wanna be.

Cis isn’t an acronym, you don’t need to all-caps it.

Can I complain now, or do I have to wait until tomorrow?

Any letters requesting fandoms with incest shipping potential?

Have you looked at the m/m incest letters listed last post?

Any and all flavors of Noncon welcome! I'm a little late to Yuletide this year but I want to treat.

FFS. They updated the letter but they still have a blank section for the fandom I actually matched on.

Comments which aren't exactly what you would have written have as much right to exist as yours. You can't insist that everyone see every matter like you do.

I'd like to chime in and say that Themisto is generally a lovely recip!

My fear about character voice has moved aside thanks to my shiny new fear of my fic ballooning beyond 10k (that being an amount I know I can write in this timeframe).

Worldbuilding in general likes and requested directly on the first short story: http://log.lianamir.com/2017/09/26/yuletide-2017-exchange-letter/

Well, my days of thinking this term is meaningless are certainly coming to a middle.

Re: And then they didn't request it!

(Anonymous) 2017-10-15 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I wasn't the only nominator for the fandom, and probably also not the only person to nominate Izetta and Finé, so I know this isn't totally on me - but I thought I'd have time to finish the series before signups closed, and I didn't, so I didn't know what I'd be craving most for them :( Maybe next year!

Nah, a TERF would never describe themself as cis (or "CIS") because that's oppressive to women or something. AYRT is obnoxious, though.

NA

Because clearly "having a metabolism discorder doesn't make me intersex" is the same as "transwomen aren't women".

Noob Anxiety

(Anonymous) 2017-10-15 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Any tips for getting over jitters about your assignment? I've done other exchanges before, but nothing nearly as big as Yuletide, and I think the size of the event is giving me stage fright. What if I screw up and my recip's Yuletide is ruined because their only gift is garbage? What if I accidentally start wank?

Re: Darkest Night wank

(Anonymous) 2017-10-15 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't exactly think "AFAB women with PCOS are also trans and have a place in the trans women's movement" is the most progressive thing either with no possible poor results for trans women.

Re: Noob Anxiety

(Anonymous) 2017-10-15 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly, in terms of what you actually need to do, Yuletide is no different from any other exchange. If anything, it should mean LESS pressure because you can fade into the background more. Also, there's a higher chance your recip will get a treat than in other exchanges. The fact that you're worried at all and are on coal means that you have a much much higher chance if doing well than most people. You know to try to write something better than 1001 words if nothing, you know to check the DNW. You're golden. Stop stressing.

I've found that writing treats helps to loosen me up for my assignment, so could be something to consider.

There's likely to be a larger pool of potential writers, but I would have thought something like Chocolate Box or Trick or Treat would generate more treats, given that the word count is so low and treating so encouraged (spreadsheets as to who has one gift only, treats not becoming gifts). I've certainly had more luck getting treats in other exchanges personally.
