What does it mean, then? I understand you might not want to explain at all, and I'm not trying to attack you or anything - I understand that the mods have cleared the fic and the recip has said they're happy with it - but falling stars do represent death pretty consistently in the show, and that's definitely what I interpreted it as. Thank you for answering!

It was my intention that it was meant to be a blur of reality and the end of Nick and Hei's illusion, but clearly I didn't write it very well. Yes, I did want to keep an open question as to what was happening-- what is real and what isn't, but I thought it was clear that Nick was still breathing at the end. Obviously it's too opaque and may only be clear in my head! I'm glad the recipient said she liked it, and I'm happy to have you question it.

I call bullshit. But whatever.

Holy shit. I think she really maybe genuinely managed to fail to get that False Star Falls = Death. That's.... There's a lot of subtle shit in the anime but that is not one. It's explicitly spelled-out and we seriously have now one of two things that has to be true:

1) Shay's lying through her teeth to look better.
2) Shay failed to pay attention to the canon to such a degree that she didn't grasp one of the central mechanics that gets explicitly spelled out multiple times in less than 13 hours of canon.

IDK Shay. Do you want to seem like a bitch or an idiot?

If she had apologized at some point, I'd be more likely to go with "idiot", but as it stands...

That came out wrong. I just mean I'd be more likely to believe this was all a well meaning mistake, if she had ever apologized. But what with the attacking her recip, it's hard to believe the bad rewrite was in good faith.

Why not both?

Srsly tho, I just started watching this series because I'm curious, and it's one of the first things established. IDEK how thick you'd have to be to miss it. Like, you gotta figure Emo Mask Hero kills that first dude, but the show makes a point of nailing down "our star just fell" = that guy ded.

There is no way she did not get it; she's lying through her teeth for deniability. God that's assholish.
