Yeah, that's true -- but this DNW is for people saying "point", not actually pointing at someone/something. It's just a really baffling thing to have as a major DNW, to me.

DA This is what happens when people decide to put every single thing they dislike at all into their DNWs list.

How is that bad, though? If they dislike someone saying "Point!", then putting it in a DNW list is definitely the way to go. Yes, I'm also curious why, but it doesn't really matter as long as the author knows they need to stay away from it.

If it really bothers them that much, then DNWing it is the way to go.

The first one? I want to know what the hell set off the second one! Is that a thing that people do in fics???

I mean, it's a thing that most pet owners I know do IRL, but I've never seen it in fics. (Mostly because there are very few fics where pet feature prominently in my fandoms).

Mouth to mouth, though? Seems a bit unpractical with most animals. Unless you have a lick-y dog, maybe.

Lots of white people love to let dogs lick into their mouths or press kisses directly on their dogs lips where I live *shrugs* The more money they have the more likely it is. I guess the health insurance can cover their deworming or whatever.

Oh, okay, fair enough. I'm not really a dog person. I was just imagining the face my cat would make.

We're talking about pressing a quick peck to their mouths, not French kissing, right? It seems to work fine for smaller dogs and cats since everyone is doing it. It always kinda grosses me out, but it also grosses me out when people do it with their babies, so my reaction is probably not normal and rooted in the fact that I never had any pets (or babies).

Both of those are AMAZING.

Like I'm just trying to imagine why someone responding "point" in some fic dialogue would be so upsetting and really not coming up with anything.

For the second--are they ok with mouth to other body part kissing animals?

I immediately thought of author Timothy Zahn, who has a pervasive written tic where all his characters say "Point" when another character makes a point in conversation. Back when I was deeply in Star Wars fandom, a lot of people gnashed their teeth over the "Point... point... point" in his books.
