I do believe there is some irrational brain thing going on, because I don't like animals at all, I mean, not in a cruel way, just I run a mile when people try to show me a puppy and I hate cat pics and all the other trite shit people retweet/reblog etc. AND YET. I still say "Oh no, not the dog" when watching carnage onscreen. (I famously shouted "NOT THE TREE!" during the Isengard battle in Lord of the Rings.)

I nominated and requested what I thought would be a solid fandom-of-one that no one would ever offer (but that I did really want).

Now two people who are not me have offered it and I feel bad but I desperately hope it's the one I match on.

Does blueinkedfrost read and comment on literally every single story in Yuletide?

Not disparaging, I just keep seeing that username and out of curiosity searched it in my email. Yep, last couple Yuletides she commented on my stories too. Is she just very into leaving nice comments for people? It's kind of impressive if so.

she phrased it pretty terribly, but I'm guessing she's saying that she relates to demure characters exceptionally well, not that she doesn't like "headstrong" ones. unless someone else wrote the sections asking for Elementary and Emma Approved as well as her requests last year for Sleepy Hollow and the Parasol Protectorate

Either. I've actually unironically enjoyed most of his fic - though I haven't tried his explicit ones and never will.

(But as writer, probably, overall, because other people will probably feel sorry enough for me to remember my name for next Yuletide.)

I am in the exact same boat, coalie. I started off wanting all fandoms equally, but then I matched on one and I'm slowly souring on it. Not least because I realize now that the subject matter is one I would want handled pretty delicately and I'm not sure I trust anyone to do it. Meanwhile, the fandom I want most is pure crickets.

Yes, she's definitely very sweet. My fics were just okay too. I have to work to make good comments, so I think that's pretty cool.

No real request preferences, though ridiculously happy to see someone offer my non-existent fandom.

I change what I'd like to write most! So I guess I have no preferences in the way of offers, either. Though I did pick up an watch a fandom based on a letter, and now likely have a decent chance of being matched to them due to sharing more fandoms.

I'm equally happy to get fic for any of my requests, but fic for the completely fic-less canon would be extra special. I don't want it any more than the others, but it would be a landmark, you know?

None of my offers have letters yet, so I'm kind of dubious about when's going to land in my inbox come assignment time. Theoretically I'm equally happy writing all of them, but there's always the chance that in practice someone's going to request something completely off the wall.

I have an absolute, solid favourite request fandom and I feel mega terrible about it. I didn't even nominate it- got into the fandom after nominations and was SO GLAD someone else had nominated it, because there is literally no fic whatsoever anywhere and I'm DESPERATE.

I haven't posted my letter yet because I need to get it balanced. I still totally want all the fic I was originally requesting! And I will be totally delighted to get any of them! But... yeah ://///

Aww. I'm not very good at writing comments so I think it's nice to see someone who can leave so many.

Strangers With Candy. Chuck and Geoffrey are both married teachers with kids and having a "secret" (i.e. blatantly obvious) affair, complete with picnics in the boiler room and bathroom roleplay pickups.

It's screwed up, since Chuck is so terrified about being outed that he runs away and hides when Geoffrey gets his face ripped off by a car. (Yes, it is a comedy!)

It really grated on me too. But I've disliked gehayi since I was on FFR, so I admit my dislike was probably partly grudgy reasons.

It's listed as a DNW in my letter because I can't deal... I still need to do my crueltide comment or do I?

Kill humans? Cool. Kick babies? Awesome.

Hit a puppy?

Sorry, I can watch people die on tv/fic but omg I refuse to watch shit like The Roommate because I know a cat is killed in it at one point.
