Well, if I ever do end up writing that Night at the Museum treat, I know what to put in it.

I want to write Doctor Who RPF, but I don't need to ask why no one has requested it. Pretty sure it was nominated with het in mind, but Matt Smith was rejected and now it's just Jenna, Karen and Alex in the tag set. Apparently no one but me appreciates all the femslashy possibilities this has opened up.

This is exactly why the mods suggest you nom things you want to request, rather than offer. Adds extra fandoms to the tag set that end up having no purpose.

This is where tag bloat comes from :-(

I nommed two fandoms I had zero plans to write or request but might vaguely want to read fic for and they both have multiple offers/requests already.

Meanwhile the one I actually want languishes :(

I was given to believe other people would want to request it! Apparently I was wrong and it has shrunk down to fandom of one size again. Oh well.

Allow people to prioritize their offers and requests. I.e. you have to request three fandoms, but if it's anyhow possible to match you on fandom 1, you will be matched on fandom 1, not on fandom 2 and 3.

I agree with adding gen, m/f, m/m and f/f qualifiers. Or even ship tags for bigger fandoms.

The prioritizing offers/requests and adding ship tags for bigger fandoms sound like they'd be hell for the matching process, though. And how would they even go about determining what fandoms are big enough to get to request ships?

They could have an optional ship tag like they did with Trick or Treat this year. If nobody matches on that ship, whatever; if someone does, great. And I think someone further up already mentioned including a gen etc. tag.

And yeah, I imagine that the prioritising would be hard to do, but the question was what we'd like to change, not if we know how exactly that would have to work. ;)

There's a weird amount of overinvestment in the tag set going on in this thread.

if i only have to request three things, i should only have to offer three things. other than that, idc. tags for pairing type sound like a giant mess to me, tbh.

They let her add them in. They always let her add them in, no matter which mod set it is.

Seriously. There's no fandom/character limit, people. Just because an ~unused fandom got in doesn't mean that yours was kicked out in his stead.

Coal is all about acting like yuletide is a zero-sum game.

I think it can be okay for older fandoms, of the Buffy, Alias, X-Files generation. Back when it was the only platform and better writers used it, as well as terrible ones. But for new ones... No.
