But why? I'd understand if you cared about someone pimping their own letter and obviously begging for treats, but why would you care if you happened to be able to identify someone who said "wow, look at this other letter I found, it's really great"?

Chris Hemsworth, Michael Fassbender, and Chris Evans all have similiar numbers to Seguin (who I'm assuming you really talking about- because the others are significantly lower). Why don't you go bug the Marvel RPF fans for awhile?

The mods will ask you to add another fandom so you can be matched to a request.

If one of the fandoms you offer is requested by someone but the algorithm assigns that someone to somebody else, the mods can double-assign you to them by hand, so that you have somebody to write for.

If absolutely none of the fandoms you offer is requested by ANYBODY, I believe they email you to get you to add a fandom.

Like the above anon said, if you're completely unmatchable the mods will have to contact you personally and wait for you to respond and add more offers before they can start the matching process. Please look at the sign up summary and make sure you have at least one match!

I think last year they also asked people to keep an eye on the sign-ups summary to make sure at least one of the fandoms they were offering was being requested.

I honestly think the vast majority of the anti-Sports RPF stuff is self-hating hockey RPF fans who, much like all the self-hating comics fans who show up every year to whine about other comics fans gaming the system, keep ragging on other people in their fandom for not following some arbitrary rules. Nobody else gives a shit, or has ever given a shit, or usually even knows enough about who is or isn't big in sports RPF to even complain about it, from what I can tell.
