Heh, that wouldn't happen to be a ship involving people with state names, would it? (I did treat them, but didn't include the ship.)

I'm so glad you asked this, because I was considering asking a similar question! (I'm not officially participating in Yuletide, but there are a few letters I really want to treat…)

It wouldn't bother me if you just said you didn't want character C in your fic without bashing them. If I absolutely wanted to include character C in the fic I might not write for you, but then you wouldn't want a fic with C in it so it all works out.

So long as you bear in mind that you might be matched with someone who has no interest at all in the character. I nominated a couple of fandoms without the most popular character specifically because I wanted fic about the others, so if it was one of mine it was deliberate not an oversight. I've seen a letter for one mentioning the character I missed out, so it does happen.

I can't figure out how to request Any! I thought there was a tickbox for it in past years, but I don't see it.

And I know requesting 0 isn't the same thing. Help.

Man, when the signup summary is in the early stages it's really easy to guess who offered what.

I thought requesting 0 was how you requested any. There's only a tick box for offering any.

I mostly enjoy the chance of receiving a fic in one of my tiny fandoms that never get fic written for them, especially a fic that includes the kinds of things that I enjoy.
But I also enjoy having a deadline so I have to write a fic for one of those tiny fandoms that I often neglect myself.

Yeah, if you want to request any character, you request 0 characters.

From the sign-up post: "You can request 0 characters in a fandom, but this means you can be matched with either to someone who offered Any nominated characters or someone who offered specific characters, so only do this if you are sure you'll be happy with stories about any of the nominated characters. You cannot request 0 characters and then use your optional details to ask instead for characters who were not nominated."

In requests you leave it blank. It's in offers that you tick Any.

How is that not the same as "any"??
