Why are you guys so insane about yuletide? In the beginning this comm was around just to mock people and discuss whatever wank was going on, but you guys are fucking crazy. I mean, "Is there anything you learned about yourself while writing your letter?" lol whut?

I think you're taking all of this way more seriously than any of the people posting in those threads. The one you mentioned wasn't about deep realizations about one's psyche, but about "hey I noticed all my ships have this one thing in common".

lol come on. Look at the thread right above this about ~maximizing your treat chances. You guys all overthink yuletide to an insane degree. By the time the 26th rolls in y'all gonna have endless "my kudos:read ratio is 0.02% the horror" and "it's been 13 hours and 45 minutes and i still haven't gotten a comment."

I would rather hang out with people that get excited and over-invested than people who act like they're above it all.

I came here because of spreadsheet wank and I stayed because the level of overinvestment makes me laugh. Especially because almost no one actually talks about whatever fandom or ship they're requesting for fear of being filed so it's like talking to yourself half the time.

Being invested in something that ultimately does not matter and (generally) won't affect you in real life can actually be pretty refreshing. Isn't that the point of fandom?

Boredom. There's nothing happening yet so people are making their own entertainment. Along with everything else starting too early this year, _coal woke up too soon.

Seriously, Nonny, at this point Yuletide is basically its own fandom. A lot of us get overinvested the same way we might get overinvested in a tv show or something. When there's nothing new to wank about, people still want to talk, even if that means making weird overanalytical comments.
