I think it's that if something's been out for less than a year (or is being offered for the first time maybe? unclear) it is eligible regardless of how many fics it has.

I could be making shit up there, though.

There used to be a rule that if it was the canon's first year, it was in no matter how many fics it had. But they did away with that a couple years ago.

If it'd be the first year for a fandom, whether or not they're eligible by numbers, they're allowed in. If a fandom had 5k fics before Yuletide rolled around, but it's the first year for it, it'd be allowed into Yuletide. It's stupid.

I'd like to sign up for Yuleporn this year, because I'd love to get porny treats! However, and this is my problem, I don't want my main giftfic to just be porn.

This is why I didn't do Yuleporn last year. I just couldn't figure out a good way to say it. I mean, going "I like so-and-so kink, and this and that, but oh, if you're my actual writer please write me a story with some kind of plot" sounds terrible. It's just so rude and awful, and it makes it sound like I don't actually even like porny fics. And I do! I just... don't want my actual gift (which might be the only thing I get, LBR) to be a PWP.

Thoughts? Advice?

High five! TJ and Margaret gen fic is exactly what I was hoping there would be requests for, too. Or TJ and Anne hanging out now that they're family - I love Anne and I always wished there was more interaction between them in canon.

You know, remembering that, I am even more annoyed at those people yelling that Guardians of the Galaxy with its 250 eligible fics isn't "in the spirit of Yuletide."

My tiny fandom (zero fic and counting!) already has offers. What! :D

There are so many letters that spoil all the fandoms I would like to write about.

Fandom 1: One letter of my fandom enemy (they wrote me coal some past yt) one letter from a person who only wants character C, either shipped with character A or D, while I only ship C/B

Fandom 2: A/B are almost canon, about 5 letters requesting A/B, and two letters totally hating the idea of A/B, with my luck I get assigned to one of those two

Fandom 3: I ship A/B, everyone just wants A/C

Fandom 4: A/B or C/D, and I only have shippy feelings for B/D or A/C

What the hell am I supposed to offer???

I don't think that sounds awful, coalie. Up until this year I had a blanket "please don't write me PWP" line in my letter. I only took it out because for the first time I'm requesting a fandoms where I'd be happy with PWP.

People were doing that? That's ridiculous. There are other movies that came out this year that are already waaaay over the limit for Yuletide without the first year rule. GOTG is still genuinely small enough.

There was no Bulgaria in the 18th century tho. It would have to be someone attempting to submit demonic claws as evidence of demons in a courtroom case in the Ottoman empire.

A fandom I thought I would be alone in has two requests and multiple offers. Awesome.

What about demon claws as evidence of a time-travelling Bulgaria?

I don't know if this would work or not, but maybe wait until assignments have been out for a couple weeks, then add your porn prompts to the Yuleporn post?

I can only speak for me, but last year I only looked at Yuleporn post to begin with to see if my was recipient had added any extra details there. But once my assignment was done, I went back and combed through it to look for treats to write.

You'd still run the risk that your writer was a procrastinator and sees it. Or that maybe I'm a minority and most people pick out there favorite Yuleporn prompts early but it might give you better odds?

Hmmmm...I have a similar problem. The only thing I can think of to say would be "I would be really thrilled if you were inspired to write me fic with these kinks (or lots of sex), especially in the context of whatever character study/case fic, etc. you might be writing." IDK. I'd love to see other suggestions too.

That sounds like a Hetalia crossover tbh.
