NaYuleWriMo

Anyone else planning on trying to combine NaNoWriMo with Yuletide? I don't think 50,000 words is a realistic goal for me (I also have a dissertation to work on..) but I do want to aim for a certain amount every day - maybe 500 words? Not all on one fic, though - my assignment plus treats.

Anyone want to join me? Suggest your own rules!

I started plotting for Nano a month ago on an original thing I'm excited about. Then I signed up for Yuletide on a whim. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.

(Realistically, the original thing doesn't have a deadline and I won't hesitate to leave it by the wayside in favor of presents for other people. But I'm still kind of boggling at myself for deciding to commit to all this at once even to myself.)

Someone in chat semi-seriously suggested writing a treat a day to make a nano wordcount work of fanfic, since nano requires 1666 words a day.

I kind of want to write something autobiographical for NaNo, but I may sneek some YT stuff in too

I'm considering it! Though I think my goal will be more around the 10-15K mark, with main assignment plus treats.

I'm going to be aiming for 500 words a day for my mini-Nano, so I'll happily join you in that. At least some of it will be for Yuletide, but I think I'm going to try to do half and half Yuletide/fic and original for Nano.

I was wibbling over NaNo this year, because there is just too much going on in my life right now, and I know that if I start and don't finish I'll hate myself.

But

Someone on _Coal suggested this earlier, the combining NaNo and Yuletide, and suddenly my brain was like "challenge accepted." And no matter how much I tell my brain that no, we are not doing this, it still thinks we are.

So I guess I'll be doing it then. :D

AYRT

Heh, now you're making me want to try for the full 1666 per day... I guess, since the Yuletide deadline isn't until December 20th (or whenever it is) we could aim to write that much and then spend the whole of December redrafting - because I know if I write that much per day, 50% of it will be in serious need of fixing afterwards!

I haven't done nano since 2006 but I'm so excited for Yuletide this year that I think I'm going to try. I'm also in the first semester of my Masters. This is going to go so badly for me.

I'm going to split my NaNo wordcount roughly 30k original and 20k yuletide.

I'm rebelling, thankfully, so I'll have way less than 50k.

I would happily join you! I was going to use NaNoWriMo to work on the novel I started for my senior thesis, but then I got my prompt and I really, really want to write longfic for my recipient. I may split the difference between the two: I'll write my Yuletide story until it's done (probably 20K max) and then go back to working on my original story for the rest of the month. That way I'll have December to obsess over editing/revising the gift fic!

Yes! I've been thinking about doing this. I'd love to try for the full 50K in Yuletide stuff, though I don't know how realistic that is.

500 word average per day all through November seems doable. I might not be able to write every day, but I can definitely come out to that from the 1st to the 30th.

I think I'm going to try for a half Nano, some devoted to Yuletide and some to non-Yuletide fics.

This time last year I was struggling to write 100 words a week, and I've written more than 3000 words in the past two days. I don't expect that spigot to continue gushing but I think that if I start early enough I can get 25k words in November too.

I'll be doing this. I have a complex idea for my yuletide assignment which should take bout 10,000 to pull off, and then treats!

I pretty much have to, between writing my assignment/BFF the longfic of her heart and writing my treat-recip the longfic of HER heart to scam my BFF into not thinking we matched.
