So, I love my assignment, and I'm really looking forward to writing it.

Only... I've kind of written a Madness treat for someone else instead.


What have the rest of you written that isn't your assignment? Tell me I'm not alone!

And can someone please kick me until I get back to what I'm meant to be writing, because the treat-happy plot-bunnies are running amok...

My dentist and my actual assignment are both shit -- one used any wrong, another wants weird as fuck AUs and nothing else.

So I am writing one, rewarding myself with treating of the many letters I have seen that I adore, writing the other, and treating again. If they're too awful I will just orphan them.

I'm about 2k and less than 1/10 into a treat for someone not my recip (though at least I have an excuse of waiting for clarification back from them! And I have an idea half-plotted out for their uninspiring 'any' request).

This treat's just too much fun, though...

I have 2 short treats I've started and want to finish first before I lose steam on them. My main assignment is going to take a great deal of front-end plotting work (casefic!) so I want to be able to focus on that without distractions.

I've got two madness-sized treats in the works, plus a non-Yuletide fic. My excuse for not working on my assignment is that I'm waiting on a locked letter :(

I can write gen, I like gen, but my recipient also kind of wants me to disregard the things I love the most about the entire thing.

I'm really disappointed by that, but I'll make it work.

I have 320 words on the first treat I started, and 1400 on the second. I'll probably finish at least one before I finish an assignment, because I simply feel more enthusiastic for both of those than my assignment.

I've just finished the first draft of a 1.5k treat (go me!) and I'm sitting on extended story notes in the region of 3k for my gift fic because the projected length of the gift is kind of intimidating me a little.

I've written 1500 words of a treat in my assigned fandom. Still haven't figured out how to start my actual assignment. (The treat is for the other person who requested the fandom, not my recipient. Oops.)

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I have a plotty longfic brewing in my head...and it's for completely the wrong prompt for my assigned fandom.

I feel your pain, coalie. My assignment is going to be long and plotty, but I'm trying to work out how to fit my recip's favorite tropes in organically, and it's complicated. The treat is basically porn in the same fandom (specifically requested by someone else) so it's easier. I've got 2000 words of treat now and like...200 of my assignment. I might have to resort to an outline.

I love my assignment too, but while I'm here reviewing that canon, I might as well sneak in two Madness-sized treats for the writing fandom of my heart. Just to get those out of my mind, you know? I want to treat at least two more people (maybe three) in other fandoms but those will have to wait.
