Charcoal Box - Writing Post

Peer pressure or cheerleading?

This is the post for all of you who write better if they don't feel alone.

I pledged 20k in November. Among other medical goings-on in my family, two weeks ago, I moved in with my ailing father, a move for both of us, and it's been an absolute nightmare, including lots of confusion on his part and my only possessions here a few days' worth of clothes so far. Today's the first day I've managed to write on Yuletide things this month. (First day I feel like I can even breathe.) I can barely believe 11 days have passed. *sigh*

I already had 1,400 words on one treat and 350 on another. Instead of working on those, I've decided to finish at least one assignment first (I have 3, because that's how many personalities are in here, I guess.)

I consider them assignments A, B, and C, in order of excitement.

Today, so far, I've done 1,600 words on A. \o/ Some progress! I was starting to fear that defaulting might be best, but I enjoy this so much I can't give it up.

I'm hoping to double that by bedtime, and maybe grind out a few hundred words on assignment C. I figure working on my least exciting assignment along with the rest will help me finish faster. Not writing coal, no never! But it's a really uninspired request, and what will apparently please the recipient bores the tar out of me.

The other is casefic, which I love, but which is harder for me to write than pure relationship stuff.

Hope everyone's cranking along and pleased with their progress!

Added another 1,500 words, so my total for today, and the story, is up to 3,100.

And they've only kissed so far. AHAHAHA. *pinches bridge of nose*

But it's fun as all get out to write!

I'm glad you're finally having a little time to write, nonny, and that it's going so well. Sounds like you need this outlet now, more than ever. Hugs!

Thanks! I do need it. He had a massive stroke at the end of October, 2012, and I almost didn't do Yuletide, figuring I wouldn't have time. I didn't have much, but I wrote two stories, and participating really saved the end of my year. I can't imagine how bleak it would have been without Yuletide! I feel the same this year. Everything right now is bleak despair, so this kind of playtime is like a balm. :)

I'm up to 4,330 now for the day and the story. And after 4k of teasing and tension, I've got them in the climactic getting-together sex scene. I may actually finish the rough draft today. Even if not, I'm almost a quarter of the way to my November goal in one day. \o/

You're ahead of your pledge, though!

I really feel behind. But I'll get there.

You realize you and some others here have written more than some pro writers manage in the same amount of time, right? \o/
