First time on the coal-writing post, but this is the most writing-est time of the year for me! I have a story up that's ~1050 words of crap and am working on a much better replacement - already longer, plottier, and more in line with what the recip wants.

So my current word count is 1146. I'd love to finish today, to the tune of about 3500 words!

Good luck with your replacement - it sounds awesome. Are you planning to gift both to your recip, by the time the collection opens?

*grins* Thanks! I need something to motivate me.

My replacement is going much better. If I can pretty up the current fic - I hate to call it a placeholder, but that's exactly what it is - then I might gift it as well, but right now I hate it enough to not want it seeing the light of day. It might work best if I cut half of it and stuck it in Madness.

I work the same way, with needing motivation and others to join in, so I'm glad you're here!

I think it'd be awesome if you're able to clean it up, pull out what you hate, and stick it into Madness as a treat. I'm sure your recip would love the extra fic, regardless of whether or not you think it's up to your standards. :)

Aww, thanks for the encouragement! Apparently my writing ego thrives on it.

It's a PH, so I would love to be able to give even 1.5 fics, but it also means I'm sort on the details about what the recip likes. (How graphic is too graphic? How AU is too AU?) So hedging my bets with a couple of different scenarios would probably be wise.

Yeah, I think that's a good idea. :) I'm sure 1.5 fics would have your PH recip thrilled, even if it's a little more AU or graphic or what have you than they're typically used to. You can do it, coalie!
