The reviewer was glad that they found a decent story about Laura whatever, called the story sweet and hoped for more. They didn't call it ugly, relax.

It's a story that was posted to an open archive and accessible to people who weren't part of the exchange and might not even know an exchange was going on. Recip aside, it's all fair game.

I can understand that it's a bad idea to criticise a gift fic for its characterisation choices, because the way the characters act may be due to the prompt that the author was writing to. But do you really think just being written for a gift exchange means that story should never receive anything but pure praise ever?

So? If you're writing fic for someone and you don't want it to be open for everyone, you can email it to them or something.
