Now that reveals has happened I was hoping that writers would reply to at least some of the comments I've left, as I was really hoping to strike up some conversations and maybe make a new friend or two. But so far nothing, bummer.
I'm a bit irritated at one writer who replied to every other comment but mine. Maybe because I'm a NNF? Oh well, I won't be commenting on their stories again.
I went on a marathon of replying and am now paranoid this is me and I inadvertently skipped someone. If it was, coalie, I am sorry. I have my account set not to notify me about comments and so honestly don't notice the rest of a year, but for Yuletide I always reply to everyone, even if it's just a "Thanks!"
If you didn't say much more than, "Great story!" you may or may not get a response. OTOH, if you left a detailed response, the author may still be trying to compose a response. Some authors waiting until after reveals to reply to most/all of their comments, which can be quite a few if they've written several fics.
They might have just missed it. If there are a number of comments on a fic, it's surprisingly easy to overlook one on AO3. I've done it myself more than once and had to go back.
Aw, that sucks. But maybe give it a few more days? Reveals just happened yesterday, so a lot of people who meant to comment after reveals may still be recovering from NYE parties. Or waiting for free time on the weekends.
I haven't replied to my comments yet because I've been busy all day. A lot of people celebrate New Year's in some way or other, so don't give up hope yet. Comment replies might take a day or two. :)
I take a super long time to reply to comments, coalie, and I suspect I'm not the only one! Comments mean a lot to me, so I do my best to reply with something of substance, especially if someone took the time to be specific with their feedback.
I hope you have some excellent conversations ahead of you regardless. Maybe check out the yuletide comm post where authors are linking to their 'talk about your yuletide' posts? Those look like excellent conversation starters to me...
I just got a lovely long reply on one of my comments; the author addressed all the details I noticed and some I didn't. I was surprised to get such a long, grateful reply since my comments are usually pretty concise, but it turns out their recip didn' t kudos or comment at all. The recip was my second choice for the treat I wrote, since a couple of people's prompts were pretty close, so I dodged a bullet there.
Maybe they're still busy? I haven't replied to any of my comments yet as I like replying to them all at the same time, but I absolutely plan to respond later this week!
