Because I'm thinking ahead (to distract myself from current assignments), I'm trying to think about what to nominate for M/M rares, Night on Fic Mountain, Not Prime Time etc this year.

And after watching The Big Short, I find myself with a sudden strange craving for slightly awkward M/M office/co-worker romances: accountants, bankers, personal assistants, politicians, lawyers, news anchors? Are there any good rare/obscure canons or pairings for this? Any recs welcome.

I think Almost Human has a great potential-M/M pairing. The main guys are two policemen, one of them sexually repressed, and there's build-up of their friendship through the first (and sadly only) season. It's one of those canons you find yourself to watch not for the plot of the episodes that are just somewhat-futuristic procedural cases, you want watch it because of the main cast, their exploration and the advancement of their relationship from 'forced to be partners' to '(possibly best?) friends'. The main pair's dynamic and chemistry is great and while I've started watching the show just for the sci fi element I was surprised into ship them hard.

Thank you for reccing - I've seen Almost Human but hadn't thought about it in a while, so thank you for reminding me :) It is a lovely and very slashy show! I wish it hadn't been cancelled just as it started to find its rhythm.

The Black Widow comics are definitely getting a nom from me at some point. Mainly because I ship Isaiah/Natasha like WHOA and there's no fic. Not quite sure where to ask for them, though. Any suggestions?

(I'm also, after seeing TFA again today, looking forward to nominating Luke Skywalker/Kylo Ren in multiple places. But that's a different matter.)

This is obviously just speaking for me, although I am THRILLED that literally anybody else ships it, but...

Personally my preference runs to the consensual, the requited and everybody being over 15 when it starts. I like the idea of Kylo trying to seduce Luke when he's a padawan, and Luke either successfully (if reluctantly) resisting or giving in and making it so much worse. But I also like the idea of something later in canon/post-canon where their slightly twisted love for each other leads Kylo back to the light side. I'd prefer a hopeful ending, but considering the general tone of the pairing and the stuff going on in canon I'd also be perfectly fine with things not going so well.

(And if porn is involved, then I didn't realize that sex using the force was a kink until recently but now I REALLY WANT ALL OF IT. Especially force choking used towards sexy purposes. Mmmmm, force choking.)

I'm kind of tempted to do Rare Pair Fest or a similar exchange with all vampire nominations/requests because no one has written me erotic blood drinking (which is one of my favorite tropes) yet despite the fact that I usually request at least one fandom that has canon vampires. If I do this, I figure my chances of receiving it will be pretty good.

I would be THRILLED to write you erotic blood drinking, Coalie! Like, it puzzles me why that's not more common in vampire media. What reason is there for vampires, other than erotic blood drinking/super rough sex/painplay/all the kinky shit EVER?

(You might still get 1000 words of brooding about how drinking blood is a sin from less interesting people, though, so be braced for that.)

One of my fandoms just had a 50k+ epic where there was tons of angst and brooding over blood drinking and when it finally did happen there were like two sentences about it, so it wouldn't be totally unexpected.

Have you read Kiss of Steel by Bec McMaster? It's been a little bit, so I don't want to make promises, but I remember the blood drinking being HOT.

As inspired by a list on goodreads, which appeared to contain only human looking aliens what even Recs for books/comics containing actually alien aliens/rich possibilities for xeno? I've just started Saga and am HUGELY enjoying it, so anything along those lines would be much appreciated.

Tanya Huff's Confederation books (mislabelled as Valor series on AO3) has lots of vaguely humanoid aliens, one species of which is basically horny pansexual space elves. Another has prehensile toes. The series is Yuletide-eligible, and will be for the next few centuries.
