People who sign up hoping to write a plot they already have in their head and only that shouldn’t be allowed in exchanges.

Make it 500, but only count one archive (either AO3 or FFN, whichever is the largest) and I'll go along.

Your titles are like a robot shouting out the words. "An!! Adventure!! In!! The!! Jungle!!"

The fuck? That's the correct way to write a title.

I never said it wasn't. I just said it was the one out of their examples that I personally dislike.

(But if you absolutely must go there, you should be aware that it's not "the correct way" in many countries.)

Yeah, I hear people say they hate lowercase titles a lot! I think it's the one I see the most complaints about in general, but maybe it depends on the fandom.

In any cases, a lot of the time I try to ignore the title. A lot of the time it really has nothing to do with the story itself.

Not really. It's not necessarily wrong, but formal title case in English, in accordance with APA and other technical style systems, doesn't capitalize short function words like "in" and "the". (If you're really strict about adhering to, like, Chicago style, even longer ones like "between" aren't capitalized. But that tends to look weird to people, despite being "correct".)

When you're claiming having sex you don't want is exactly like going to a movie when you don't want to, you're the one who sounds like you're either way too young to be online having this conversation, or part of the incel sex-is-a-transaction crowd.

Related fandoms are fine as nominations, but you can only request or offer one of them as part of your required minimum (extras are fine once you've met the minimums). One Star Wars property, one Star Trek property, one hockey team, one Sherlock incarnation, one Avengers cartoon, etc. Yuletide is a multifandom exchange, if you can't or won't meet the minimums, then it's not for you.

...huh? That's what I said. An Adventure in the Jungle is the example we're talking about.

Oh, sorry, misread your comment - I thought your "the fuck?" was an expression of disbelief that the AYRT didn't care for their last example. Nvm!

I mean I definitely agree, but I assume the limit is that high to acknowledge that sometimes a fandom can just suck so much in what it has to offer that it might as well be small. It's kinda the generous margin that makes the cutoff more enforceable in cases when exceptions can't be made.

People who don't have a single idea to fall back on if their recipient doesn't tell them what to write really shouldn't sign up either.

THIS. Or at the very least a back-up plan for where to get one.

I would love this in theory and also love to watch the popcorn and burnout of mods trying to put it into practice.

I've seen places like ffa where just saying you hate star wars is considered wank and shut down, so that's why I wouldn't be surprised if it happened, either, but your situation sounds more wank worthy.

So what's going to stop recips who don't use prompts, or who intend to add prompts but don't get around to it, from choosing "prompts"?

It author is mad, report and mods kick them out. Since it’s anon thee no pressure to be nice and the mods can tell the author to write a treat or NYR otherwise they’re banned next year.

I hate people who only 'do' fandom for Yuletide. They're so smug and annoying.

Re: confused by this letter:

Think purple prose.

If you're describing someone being eviscerated, you might describe the implement, the depth of the cut, how much blood there is, how the POV character feels. Enough to say what is happening and give a picture of it.

You might also talk about how the blood is thick and shiny and reflects the sunlight and the entrails look like a dead snake slithering out of a gaping chasm of death.

This would be overdone, unless you were actually going for the metaphor of a snake as a motif and it was absolutely necessary to highlighting that this was a Slytherin. Or something.
