How awkward/taboo is it to write a sequel to a giftfic if said sequel would hit one of the giftee's DNW's? To be clear, I wouldn't gift it to them, but it would be obviously connected to the first fic and use the events and set-up of the first fic as a springboard.

I went into the 2016 collection, filtered by comments and went to the 121st page and went forward. I clicked on each comment link and when I found a noncommenter, I clicked on their gifts page to see what else they hadn't commented that were exchange gifts. I also counted if there were multiple gifts not commented on in a specific collection.

I gave up after getting to the bottom of 118th page. Someone can continue on without me.

It seems like it should matter how many gifts they receive total. Failing to comment on two fics fic out of two is pretty different than failing to comment on two fics out of twenty.

(I have no idea whether finishing a fic by December 20 is a realistic thing I can do this year, and I didn't want to leave a potential recip hanging. And when I tried to come up with requests, I blanked. I'm a little disappointed in myself, but maybe the lower-pressure option will be better for me in the long run.)

Both because I dislike the deadline (I dislike all deadlines), but also because I realised I genuinely do not want to receive fic. At all. The goal at the moment is to write a couple of treats, and if that goes well, to try to nab a pinch hit if one happens to appeal to me.

I've done that the last two years, and enjoyed the more mellow yuletide, but this year I was hungry for fic! Written for me! I would caution that you may not be able to grab pinch hits, based on time zone and work schedule. If not, my suggestion is to treat the pinch hits you really want as if you DID get them, and just start writing.

I know this is book-elitist or whatever and I know there are plot changes but I'm glad I only offered the book for IT because of how this person seems...unaware of what's to come and is basically prompting the writer to contradict a pretty big aspect of that story which I doubt the next film won't include at all.

Let's say you marched on more than one fandom. For fandom A, you have two brilliant and very different ideas for stories from two very different prompts of theirs. You also have possible ideas for fandom B. Do you think it's be better to have two stories in one fandom, or in two very different fandoms? Especially as the two for fandom A may be better quality as your ideas are more coherent? If you were the recip, what would you rather have, or would it depend heavily on which fandoms they were?

Well, if I were the recip, maybe I would secretly prefer one of the fandoms and that might change my answer. But if I had no preference I would probably rather have the stories you thought were better. So if you like your ideas for fandom A more I say go for that!

With all the talk of non-commenters and with the recurring yearly wank about short treats, I thought I'd compile a list of non-commenters for 2016 Madness. Some people did not comment on shared gifts, but I'm not listing them unless they also did not comment on non-shared yuletide gifts. The only reason I even looked at any with more than two recips was if they'd already not commented on sole recip gifts. What is the main goal here? To see who is appreciative of a short treat vs who isn't? If so, you'd need to cross-reference the no-show list against the main collection to see whether they commented on their main gift. If they comment on longer gifts and ignore short ones, that's a possible indicator that they don't like short gifts. If they don't comment at all, they're just someone for the general no-commenter list. The people who are on your good egg list are most likely polite people who comment enthusiastically on anything they receive. They are good recipients in general, not necessarily enthusiastic recipients for shorter fic.
