what sort of wank do you hope gets stirred up this year? i myself want some good old-fashion wackadoodle letter wank.

Wank I want:

1. Wackadoodle letter wank is my #1, too. I just want a really good, juicy off-the-wall letter. If the letter writer came here or edited their letter to defend it, that would be early wank Christmas.

2. Some form of nominations wank that has to do with people not reading the rules and throwing a tantrum about it. I want someone to try and nom a megafandom and get mad when they can't or something like that.

3. Spitefic wank, boy oh boy I love spitefic wank. I'm talking the passive-aggressive sort of spitefic that's fun to wank on like ff_d getting a fic about never getting a reply, not "deliberately put something the other person finds triggering" fic. The latter is nasty and not fun.

4. Comment wank, either a recipient leaving a snotty, ungrateful comment on a perfectly good fic or an entitled coal author freaking out that they got a "thanks for writing for me".

5. I feel like rejected gifts are a mine of wank potential we've never completely unearthed.

Wank I DON'T want to see:

1. Social justice wank. I'm just exhausted of this sort of wank.

2. Purity culture wank, aka someone getting dragged because they asked for rape/incest/whatever. This sort of wank is never fun and the people who perpetuate it turn to doxxing and other methods of actually trying to harm the other party RL too often.

I always love the classic "But I didn't realize the [nomination/sign-up/story] deadline was already past!!" wank. I really hope someone just digs in this year and fights it out in public.

Discord is the worst ever and IRC was working perfectly whether you wanted to talk or not, Discord works neither for talking nor for lurking.
