I think it's ridiculous that there's so much angst and fuss and agonizing over letters, as if that's the most important part of Yuletide. It sometimes feels like the letter writing is some public pissing contest, where everyone tries to have the most awesome letter to prove that they are the most awesome yuletide participant.

The hand-wringing can get way out of control, I agree, but I end up agonizing over my letter because it's one of the few things in the exchange that I can control. And so far I've never not gotten a treat, and I think that's partly down to working through a draft or two of my letter.

I've also gotten treats every year and two years ago I didn't even write an actual letter, just listed my fandoms and requested characters in a LJ post. You just never know.
