(Anonymous) 2014-10-07 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)For Yuletide, I don't usually have time for massive plot changes, so that kind of critique wouldn't be helpful. The one area where betaing has been fairly helpful is in headers, suggesting that I might want to warn for things I hadn't considered warning for or suggesting tropes that could be usefully tagged for. I do think that most fic writers can benefit a lot from the right beta and that most betas in Yuletide chat are decent writers who make decent editorial suggestions. OTOH, I really don't get that much out of being betaed most of the time.
