Pollute the Air

Did your favorite fandom get rejected because it was one fic over the limit?
Have you just fallen in love with a new fandom the day after nominations ended?
Or are you morbane?

In the last post the idea came up to create a community where you can post your most shameful yuletide requests anonymously. Check out [community profile] youwantwhat

When I've had my fic betaed, I've usually had 1 SPAG suggestion per 5k or so. That isn't enough to justify taking the time when I'm writing on a deadline.

For Yuletide, I don't usually have time for massive plot changes, so that kind of critique wouldn't be helpful. The one area where betaing has been fairly helpful is in headers, suggesting that I might want to warn for things I hadn't considered warning for or suggesting tropes that could be usefully tagged for. I do think that most fic writers can benefit a lot from the right beta and that most betas in Yuletide chat are decent writers who make decent editorial suggestions. OTOH, I really don't get that much out of being betaed most of the time.
