Cleaning out the Coal Cellar

 Hi guys

I solemnly swear to have my coal together better this year.
Is there any admin stuff I need/promised to do to make you coal easier?
Input here please

2018 app feedback

Hola coal, coadie here. In the spirit of the app being born in it coal pits, I'm here to canvas feedback for it early as we slide into the 2018 season...

https://tagset2018.firebaseapp.com/

EVERYTHING IN THERE IS FAKE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE, but give it a whirl and let me know if there's anything particularly heinous or that might be nice to have. I've tried to make it more mobile friendly and better for letter submission. There *are* bugs in this version jsyk.

I'm not tech savvy enough to spot the bugs so everything looks fine to me? Thank you so much for doing this, coadie!

Just a quick note to say bless you, coadie. This app is one of the greatest things ever. <3

SA As for suggestions, it might be nice to have the option to edit the letter info later? Maybe submit again and it would overwrite the old submission? If that's not too fiddly.

DA

Wouldn't that allow someone else to re-write your letter?

ayrt I guess, but I think a "I changed my letter, pls update it" situation is more common (well, I hope) and then it'll be inconvenient for coadie to do it all manually. Maybe setting a password when you first submit it so you have to use it again when updating? Just spitballing, that's not a perfect solution either and may be too much of a bother.

The easiest solution is for people to wait until they've finished their letters to advertise them.

This is vaguely what I'm thinking of doing; I'll see if I can make it a reality! The less modding people have to do the better, imho.

All hail the coadie!

I played around with your beta app for a bit. When using the scrollbar to move down a long list of the book fandoms, I noticed that it would show me what I scrolled to, but then bounce the scroll bar (and my view) back up to the top of the list. That happened 5 or 6 times, then seemed to settle down, bounced me back only half-way, and then let me scroll all the way down to the bottom. Maybe it was still loading? I wasn't able to replicate the bug later.

Is the Contact link meant to go to you? Right now its dead.

Thank you so much for doing this again, you really improved my Yuletide experience last year.

1) re: scrollbar - that's expected behaviour - the app loads as you scroll (the small jumps), but if you scroll too aggressively and it needs to grab more than a certain amount of fandoms, it gives up and loads everything (the huge jump)

Once the full load happens, so long as you don't refresh the page it won't happen again.

2) re: contact link - yup

Coadie, you are far more than we deserve! Your app from last year was wondrous!

The one suggestion I would make, which might be impossible to implement, would be a function to search by requester name, not just fandom. So if you're like, "hey, person X was super nice in Chat. I wonder what their fandoms are." you can search them without knowing any fandoms in advance.

That might be easy enough! /coadie
