Yeah, well, it's kinda hard not to engage when I seem to be the only one arguing my point. My immediate thought isn't that everyone else is quiet because "no one (is) taking them seriously enough to reply" but I'm starting to question if there's a fundamental flaw in what I'm saying.

What about fandoms written by Japanese Nationalists? Which is essentially the same as White nationalists who perpetuate Nazi ideology. No one is going to nominate a Japanese War criminal because they don't know any of them. I'm referring to modern people, writing stuff that people blindly consume with no thought to what the purpose is, and what it might be doing.

Maybe they just don't write longfic well. I know some people want to slog through 10K of obligatory dross on principle, but I'll take 1100 of something decently written to my prompts over that every time.

honestly people place too much significance on recip comments. write a great fic instead and maybe you'll get a dozen comments from other readers.

I'm not trying to be glib here - that really is the problem. Civil rights movements throughout history have very often failed to be intersectional - feminism with women of color, Black and Chicano movements with women and gays, and so on - but equating TERFs and Nazis is very fundamentally asserting that fighting for women is just like fighting for white Aryans.

Are you lost? Do you have a skating competition you're meant to be judging?

in a big fandom maybe! but not in the majority of yuletide fandoms.

if the recip doesn’t care about their gift then it makes even more sense to be done with them quickly and write for more fandoms so you can get more comments by other recips/and +2 or +3 people who also know those fandoms, by your logic. some people have to write 4-5 fics to get up to a dozen people who even know one of those fandoms enough to comment.

I get what you're saying, but a) I didn't exactly equate them, I just said I wanted them both gone and b) I fundamentally disagree with the fact that TERFs are "fighting for women", seeing as there whole point is to throw whole groups of women who don't fit in under the bus. There's a difference between feminists failing to include other groups of women (which is bad enough but can come from a place of ignorance or lack of education rather than malice) and actively fighting against a specific group of women.
