Two more days until assignments due and this fic is like a Herculean labour.

My recip has the worst letter I've ever seen and it has actively demotivated me from doing anything.

I know it's only 300 words, but fuck.

Did you get that google docs letter with 2 pages of DNWs? If so, my condolences.

No, they requested every nominated character (over 20) without any hints regarding preferred pairings, and a line like "I like this canon" which isn't helpful at all. I just don't know what to do with it. I know I can write 300 words of something but there's no excitement or motivation and it's bumming me out :(

Maybe try checking out the community challenge spreadsheet? I found it overwhelming at first, but there's a ton of great one-off nominated tags in there that might inspire you. Also, posting a fic with those tags would be working towards the community challenge, if you find that motivating.

I'd go for original flavor, just-like-canon fic. Maybe a missing scene? 300 words are too little for casefic but, a scene in the style of canon, or an omake-style passage?

I realized I hated every single word that I was writing and so now have metaphorically burned it to the ground and am starting over. Excellent.

Mine was stuck at 150 words for two whole days. The 150 words kept changing, but the count didn't go up. Something finally kicked into gear and the sucker grew legs. What I post will definitely pass the bus test, but I know I'll be messing with it until before reveals.

I'm going to run through beta one more time on Thursday, then I'm ready to let 'em go and concentrate on Yuletide next week.

I just posted my assignment and went through requests looking for things to treat and...none of the fandoms I really want to write for have any prompts! One just lists characters.

There is precisely one treat I can write. I'll have fun writing it, but I was hoping to be able to do more.

How do you feel about five-minute fandoms? There's some good ones in there!

Is there this year a challenge to end up with 2 works/person. I liked this as an ambition last year.

The main challenge this year is more complicated, but 2 gifts/person is one of the items on the (very long) list. There's also a spreadsheet tracking people with 0-1 gift.

I think I'm going to have to default. I can't get this fic into a shape that I'll be happy with. I'm going to keep on trying until closer to the deadline tonight, though I have a commitment lasting some of my time, but my recipient has no treat so far and I think they should get something better than what I've currently got.

As long as it's bus ready, why not post it now if you'll have time to work on it before reveals?
