A&B are Victorians and have a parent-child dynamic. I need to injure or distress the younger character and write some good old h/c. Problem is, that's a bit too broad for me. Any ideas?

Injury while horse riding. Carriage breaks or gets run off the road/tips over. Younger one leans too far over railing and takes a tumble ( Maybe the maids where cleaning there and they didn’t realize the floor was still wet). Set it during winter and an attempt at ice skating leaves the younger one falling into a frigid lake (this the older must rescue them).

You could always go to the old standby of ‘you were out to long in the rain, now you’re ill’.

Near drowning can be pretty good for this time period because entertainments on or near water were pretty common but a lot of people were poor or non-swimmers.
