The Dirty Energy Source

Do you want to make a spreadsheet about spreadsheets?
Do you still need to figure out what two other fandoms you should request beside the only one you really want fic for?
Or are you trolling ALL the letter posts for placeholders, just so you can write those people some nice, dry coal?

We want to know all about it.

Not a cricket rpf anon, but sign-ups have only just opened and most people do their letters during this period, so letters might be forthcoming?

Eh, they're small fandoms for a reason. I write for small fandoms too -- weirdly enough, there's a prompt for a fandom that is identical to the premise of one of my own stories -- but I can understand why people, generally, wouldn't seek them out except for Yuletide. Yuletide makes the stories easy to find, and you can't beat it in terms of zeitgeist.

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde! Do you like vaguely supernatural Victorian literature? Do you like subtextually (not really even subtextually) gay Victorian literature? Age difference m/m ships? Implications of rentboys? Beautiful, wealthy young men who are actually semi-immortal creatures of debauchery? Really vivid descriptions of jewelry? Opium? You're in luck! The book is public domain, so there are plenty of cheap physical copies on Amazon, and it's available as an ebook on Project Gutenberg.

I'm also really interested in writing for this fandom, so if anyone feels inclined to request it...

Does anyone know why this is? The mods seem aware that people like to write treats...

Oh, boy. Well, I'd say that I had to have a/b/o, but no AUs allowed. Also no women. Not even one appearing anywhere in the fic. And tentacles, but only tentacles going in character A because character B would never allow a tentacle anywhere near any of his orifices. All that fanon about character B and tentacles is just stupid. Write a better story than those.

Why, oh why, do people put "OOC" in their DNWs?

I'm tempted to do so, mostly because the last exchange fic I got was wildly, offensively OOC.

The story of my weight loss journey, a vague suicide threat and demands for a Supernatural crossover.

Rivers of London. Series of four books, with book five coming out soon. Fantasy in a modern setting, great worldbuilding, lots of well written characters, and really funny to read. Book one starts with the main character, a London copper, interviewing a ghost about a murder. I think I've seen someone rec it on the pimping post this weekend.

I'd systematically dismiss all the popular fic in the relatively big fandom I'd chosen, I'd demand that my writer only give me ships that are unpopular for a reason (eg, there's canon sexual assault), I'd kinkshame some relatively vanilla kinks that my writer might very well have. I'd judge any sexually active female characters for being so. I'd say that I'd "prefer not" to have any fic that included Characters X, Y, and Z where those characters were the only or main PoC in the fandom.

My two cents: I may love the things I request for Yuletide, but they aren't necessarily my favourite fandoms. There's more to "fandom" than just loving the text/canon, and part of that is community, ongoing interaction, ease of engagement, etc. I have other things I do all year, other things I may enjoy more. Yuletide is a lobster dinner, but when I get home from work I like to eat mac and cheese.

- character-bashing, especially of female and POV characters
- long label headcanons
- kink bashing ("don't write X or other gross things")

xeno only plz. i only like fics that are nc17. I would like it if dean was upset about something and sherlock had to comfort him. but then the doctor started to flirt with sammy and dean got jealous. i don't like crossovoers but fusion is okay as long as they are at hogwards and nowhere else. please no house elf sexx!! i couldn't find him on the signup form but derek hale needs to be potions proofessor if they have any lessons. i know JKR said she thinks dumbledore is gay but he's old so plz don't talk about him or pair him with harry (hagrid is okay). if i don't like it i won't comment.

I know Morbane and a few chat people are doing it, but are any other coalies going to attempt to cross the two over? I'm hoping to get a bunch of treats done, and a decently long main story.

Someone write 500 drabbles, be the hero of citrus fruits everywhere.

Oh nooooo I saw Borgen was in the signup summary and went to find the letter for it, and it turned out to be that one. Sad times, I was hoping to offer it.

Oh my God. If we were having coalie signs this year, I'd nominate "please no house elf sexx!!" as the signal.

I would write a long introduction about how I love awesome ladies, but my requests would all be for male characters. One of the requests would demand a crossover with a large fandom, with no outs, and the other would include passive-aggressive bashing of the fic I received last year.

I literally don't have time for it. To make the word count I'd have to write two hours each. I only have five 'free time' on which I also have to do housework and buying groceries and everything else.

Thanks. Though reading through some of the other examples I'm now kind of gutted I left out casual racism and misogyny.
