Isn't that how they do it every year? Though anyone requesting or offering in that 'fandom' deserves what they get, imo. What a waste. (Unless it's spreadsheet vs. spreadsheet, but that would go into anthropomorphic anyway.)

Yes but judging from you and the other anon's efforts I'm guessing that it doesn't generate those pages until after at least nominations have ended. Maybe not until assignments have gone out, I don't know. I only tried it way after that but before they opened the requests for viewing.

Not that this is a super likely possibility, but my first year doing Yuletide I'd already enthusiastically bookmarked the letter of the person I ended up getting assigned to, so I didn't even read past their username. I was just like YESSSS and picked back up with the fic I'd already started. In that one instance, I would not have known until I finished the fic went back to obsessively double check that everything squared up that there was a difference between the requests and the letter.

Someone requested a fandom I don't want to offer (because I've never written for it before and am a bit intimidated by the idea), but I'd love to treat them if their prompts are good. Post a letter already!

I offer very few things at first. First of all, I want my fandoms at the top of the needy list while the list is so short. Second, I want to get my requests on the list at all so people see the fandom names as they scroll past. I'll work on offers later.

Write a second letter under a sock, post the letter in the DYW spreadsheet. Don't sign up with the sock. (But include the AO3 sock username, so the treater has someone to gift it to.)

There are other exchanges that have a pretty good hit to comment ratio. If NoFM wasn't attractive to people, maybe that's an issue with that particular exchange.

I do make Yuletide a priority because it is once a year. If it started being held more often, I would skip many rounds thinking "Oh, the next one is soon". I would probably do less for Yuletide overall.

Mine too! I don't know why, but my fic that year was the best I've ever written for Yuletide. And I got a really sweet giftfic, too. It was a good year.

yeah before requesting I went to AO3 (because I'm pretty new to the canon and haven't really read fic) and scrolled through and was like "no. why."

I hate Hollywood. Oh, everybody says that, but it's true. I hate Hollywood. Nobody drops crumbs there. You have to *eat* to drop crumbs. Downtown's okay, I guess. There aren't any restaurants, so people subsist on Starbucks, and where there's Starbucks, there's cranberry-almond scones. Nobody ever finishes a cranberry-almond scone, and that's where I come in. God, I'm so sick of cranberries.

Anyway. One day this person bops me on the head one time too many -- what do I look like, a housecat? -- and I have just had it up to HERE. So I fly up to the bus and perch on a side-view mirror -- driver doesn't use 'em anyway -- and hitch a ride to the airport. Once there, some other jerk was standing out front rubbing on a Travelpro, and that's my cue. I hop into her purse, shove out the chihuahua, and put a dumb adoring expression on my face. I'm in. And off we go, hopefully to some place with more than one dish on the menu.

Also with the small fandoms of Yuletide, the last-minute beta may not be familiar with the fandom. "Oh, they don't want OOC" is completely irrelevant to a beta in that case.

Oh man, that was the year I got two absolutely amazing fics that I still re-read. I only wrote one (and it about killed me), but it was pretty popular and I still get occasional kudos on it, so - yeah, I have some fond memories of that one, even with the short writing period.

My favorite clone-tp is all the clones together at once. I also find the actors that play the clones really hot so if you wanted to write me clone actor RPF that would be fine! It's so cool they found that many people who look so alike lol. I've written some clone orgies before but I don't think they get as much love as they should. I usually put Helena in charge but maybe Beth likes bossing the others about with her guns? It would be cool if Rachel could make Paul record it for them all to watch later ;)

Gen prompts: Does Alison bring snacks when she comes to the clone orgies? Does Delphine ever sneak in to spy on them when Cosima disappears? What if all the clones ganged up to kill Cal and Paul so nothing would ever distract Sarah from them again? ;)
