The Dirty Energy Source

Do you want to make a spreadsheet about spreadsheets?
Do you still need to figure out what two other fandoms you should request beside the only one you really want fic for?
Or are you trolling ALL the letter posts for placeholders, just so you can write those people some nice, dry coal?

We want to know all about it.

What has writing your letter taught you?

Is there anything you learned about yourself while writing your letter? Patterns that emerged? Themes you began to see?

Re-reading my letter, there is a lot of perving over ladies in it. Like, a lot. ;) I'd say I learned I was a lesbian, but then I already knew. (Score!)

If you're the letter writer I think you are, you've got me perving over some ladies I hadn't thought of, but am now excited about. And I'm not a lesbian!

Hee, whoever you're thinking of, I'm sure their ladies are awesome. :D

(Seriously. I kept drifting off, going "MUSCLES OMG!" and "omg, butch ladies are so hot" and "omg, but plump pretty femme ladies!" and "omg, LADIES!!" It was the hardest thing to stop from drooling over pictures of my ladies and actually write my damn letter. xDDD)

...Maybe it's a good thing that femslashex stories get released soon... I can read a bunch of femslash and then be able to concentrate on stuff again. :D [Or get worse, I suppose.]

I'm thinking of the Rosemary and Thyme ladies. I've always thought there was something awesome and sensual about them, but now I'm thinking of it even more, and EXPLICITLY.

I'm more open to AUs and crossovers than I originally thought.

All my requested ships have a considerable age difference. Not too surprising, I just didn't expect it to be so obvious in my requests.

All but one of my requests are for historical fandoms. I never would have described myself as being into historical fic specifically, but... apparently I am!

I'm an asshole.

I'm surprisingly open about things. Also I kinda suck at specific prompts beyond just "What happened with x?" And I apparently like 5+1s

I have a thing about identity porn and power dynamics. I also need to be more careful about discussing characters separately in addition to whatever dynamic I enjoy them in.

TL;DR FOR LIFE!

But I already knew that.

I AM NEW TO THE TL;DR LIFE. HALP.

(Legit, may last two letters were <1.5k. This year? Almost 4k. Same number of fandoms too.)

Mine showed me that I have very specific taste in fandoms, which I honestly hadn't realised before. The majority of my requests had several things in common.

Almost all my requests were for three people - the two people that made up my OTP, and my favourite character.

Two out of three of my requested pairings are m/m ships where one guy is about twice the size of the other. I thought it was a funny coincidence. Then I though about it some more.
Coincidence my ass.

I feel you, nonny. I accidentally discovered during my femslashex signup this year that I have a gigantic size difference kink for my f/f ships. I paid more attention during my Yuletide letter this year and it turns out I have the same kink in my m/m ships. Who knew!

....size difference kink in f/f ships?! POINT ME TO YOUR LETTER I STILL HAVE A FEW HOURS LEFT.

I seem to be briefer than everybody else. But I really *am* glad to get just about anything, and I really do think I'd rather have the writer do something they can hit out of the park than have them try to write the fic I already have in my head.

Writing my letter has helped me make peace with the fact that I'm a giant pervert. So there's that.

I don't think I want a good story I think I just want something completely unexpected.

That I really like relationships that start out as rivalries and grow into friendships as they come to understand each other.

I...like dorky characters. A whole lot.
