Yeah, that one scene in canon was quite rapey, and if they'd gone with 'I want noncon' I'd be fine with their request. But they seem to view Gary as a very sympathetic, misunderstood woobie, and I can't get behind that.

Definitely not a woobie, but he was also given way less backstory in the canon compared to the other characters. The closest we got was that one scene of him sympathizing with Jem about her PTSD and saying that he'd been frightened himself.

I'd be interested in a fic from Gary's POV or looking at why he turned out how he did, but I have zero interest in seeing him shipped with Kieren.

It felt rapey to me both when he smeared the makeup on Amy and when he poured the drug into Kieren's injection hole. The makeup scene really got to me, and I was sure that was the metaphor they were going for. By the time we hit the finale of season 2, I expected this type of behavior from him.

He may be misunderstood, but he has problems beyond that. Gary/any PDS sufferer non-con makes a ton of sense, though. He's not above it, IMO.
