The Dirty Energy Source

Do you want to make a spreadsheet about spreadsheets?
Do you still need to figure out what two other fandoms you should request beside the only one you really want fic for?
Or are you trolling ALL the letter posts for placeholders, just so you can write those people some nice, dry coal?

We want to know all about it.

Letters that use any correctly

Apparently I'm more drawn to letters with specific requested characters, because I only know the fandoms for a couple of the any requests, but the others look good too.

Penny Dreadful, http://originally.livejournal.com/83390.html
Journey (video game), http://mk-tortie.livejournal.com/205328.html
The Pacific, http://penniform.livejournal.com/4362.html
Snowpiercer, http://gloria-scott.livejournal.com/41294.html

Mine three!

(OK, it's not posted yet. But I'm working on the section for my any fandom and it really does mention every nommed character enthusiastically because I am very enthusiastic about them all!)

Holy shit, I had not seen that letter and now I hope with all my heart that I get her as my recipient; I'm comfortable with three of her four canons and each of them have multiple prompts out of the ones she offered that I could happily work with.

It's a great letter, I inly know one canon but I'm hoping to get assigned to her. If not I may try to write a treat this year.

first year here--how do people misuse 'any' in their letters?

Re: Letters that use any correctly

A couple of ways:

1. Request "any" then make it clear they want fic about one or two nominated characters.
2. Request "any" because they really want fic of anyone EXCEPT one or two nominated characters.
3. Request "any" because they only want fic of characters who are not nominated.

Any means any nominated character. Anyone who offers the fandom may be assigned to you, and maybe they only wanted to write the two characters you don't like.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. All of my fandoms so far have low nominated character counts, so I hadn't noticed this.

1. They use any and all their prompts revolve around characters who weren't nominated. Even people who offer any only sign up to write nominated characters.

2. They use any when they clearly have a preference. Ex: the tag set includes Bob, Jake, Susan, Jane, Ralph, Mary, and Steve. Person requests any, says "I'd love Bob/Mary or Jake/Steve, but solo Susan fic is fine too". Someone who only offered Jane and Ralph could still match with them due to the Any request.
