Too Short/Too Long Letters

(Anonymous) 2014-10-25 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
I was looking at this letter, discusses in the 'bad letters' thread: http://cheriestar.livejournal.com/221487.html

And I was struck by how short it is. Are there any other extremely short letters you've found? Do any of them manage to be useful anyway?

Alternately, are there any letters that are just too long, and do they still manage to be useless?

Oh, fuck you. Are you serious for one minute?

Ooh, i didn't realize this was nominated! I loved that movie. I would definitely offer to write--or at least treat--it.

Yep. And in New Zealand it was even later, like mid afternoon Boxing Day. I'd be stuck with family and have to wait till that night. So whining coalie further up the thread can bite me.

"Lana('s persona) has a rather public daddy kink. Dan has a bitchin' beard and wears a lot of leather and flannel."

DONE.

IDK why you're acting like the only people to benefit are Aus & Asian yuletiders. UTC is basically (not quite) GMT. The UK & Euro participants will be having fun at reveal too.

"most people in the USA live in California"

Uh, no. The population of Cali is something like 33 million. The population of states on the east coast is over 150 million which is more than a third of the country's population.

Re: UTC Questions

1 out of every 8 people who live in the United States lives in California. It's the most concentrated state. Sure there are people sprinked in the midwest and congregated along the East coast, but if you're every trying to make the most people happy in the USA, the key is to aim for California. PST > EST > Central > Mountain.

And 1 in 3 people live on the east coast...

I just checked the pinch hits list and I was really surprised to see that I'm on it! How weird. I've had a gift listed under my name for a solid month, but I guess it was a treat, not an assignment.

I kind of want to write that prompt but not set in a city, or at least not New York. But she doesn't really deserve treats so idk.

I find it kind of hilarious that she think Clint/Coulson (which I dislike, but whatevs) is borderline abusive but Clint/Kate is totes OK? She may have her shit together but she's a hell of a lot younger than him.

When I mod things, I cater to my own time zone. I assume that was the original logic to Yuletide using EST.

NA

HDU! Vinnie and his unibrow are FLAWLESS!

(Seriously, Wiseguy is awesome. But I agree that writing for astolat doesn't have to be a bigger deal than writing for anyone else.)

One paragraph of details in a canon that has heaps of loose ends and character potential.

"What happened after X sailed off into the sunset at the end?" (and nothing else)
Well, yes. No one else was wondering that.

Making it clear that they want a romantic pairing that's a hardcore squick for me, and giving no other details than "I like A/B!"

Hard boiled detective AU is about as obvious to me as "in space" or "high school". It just depends on your background.

It's weird as an only prompt though.

The Penny Dreadful request sounds like they requested ANY, yet "I would love to get something about Ethan being a werewolf" and very vague mentions of three other characters when there are probably another 5 or 6 nominated (including the characters I'm offering).

Fuck it. Dorian/Sembene for everyone.

I just wrote like two paragraphs of praise as someone who's been lucky enough to be one of her recipients, and it was getting kind of embarrassing. So, to be brief: I hope you get the writer of your heart, coalie!

Especially if that means more great DWJ fic for me to read.
