Unfortunately my sum total knowledge of noir is like...one Star Trek episode when they were playing an old detective game in the holodeck and (naturally) nearly got killed. As an only prompt, it is not exactly something most people will know (vs. something like "in space" or "high school").

It just makes me irritated because it's pretty clear anything else would be coal.

Hard boiled detective AU is about as obvious to me as "in space" or "high school". It just depends on your background.

It's weird as an only prompt though.
