Don't want to name and shame but: if you request a character who is part of this fandom's juggernaut pairing and proceed to bash the other half of this pairing in your letter, there is a chance you will antagonize your writer.

A simple "no A/B" would be enough. I don't need your negative opinions on someone you aren't requesting.

If so, that was my reaction, even though I personally agree with everything said. A simple, "I would prefer him not to appear, and to focus on Jack's other relationships and storylines instead" would have been better and just as clear.

Yes! We don't all have to agree on a character, but I'd prefer not to be greeted with a hateboner.
