Weren't there people specifically arguing against them being the same otherwise the fandom would have been over the limit?

No, TnC is definitely under the limit with the VN and anime combined, and there wasn't any evidence debate. You may be thinking of something else -- possibly DMMD? Which is by the same company and suffers from the same sanitization in its anime.

Yes, now that you say it, I remember it was DMMD. From the descriptions here it just sounded similar. Wasn't rape vs no-rape used for DMMD as one of the evidence anime and VN aren't the same?
