That's why you do it after the collection is live but before author reveal. The mods aren't check anymore for defaulters at that point.

Well it'll be obvious if anyone bothers to look at it that the account has Yuletide gifts but no Yuletide works. But it won't trigger a mod alert in any way.

It also still shows that you turned in your gift and what it was on your assignment page even after you've moved it to the new account, so it might on the mod's end too in the challenge info in the incredibly unlikely event one of them ever notices you have gifts but no fic from that year.

Would that alert them to a sock acc though, so you'd have to make a new one for the next year?

They haven't kicked my dentist out yet, and we've switched stories more than once. The chances of any of them noticing (or having a reason to go looking in the first place, unless you wrote for a mod) is ridiculously slim.

Sounds cool. I'd worry that the person assigned to the sock or people thinking of writing treats for the sock might be discouraged since it makes the sock look like a defaulter, though.

In my case my sock has written and treated other things, so she doesn't look like a serial defaulter. But always moving all your fic to your regular account, yeah, that's just making it obvious.

Also, it's not that uncommon for people to orphan works, which would be a reason someone has YT gifts but none listed in their works.

If the account you changed authors on also writes a treat of at least 1000 words that you DON'T change authors on, then it doesn't look like they didn't write any fic.
