This. I wrote a historical RPF letter and I had to do quite a bit of research for it. Loved it though

Same! I basically wrote a mini essay for my historical RPF fandom in my letter, just with more casual language than I'd use in an academic setting - and it was a ton of fun. Plus, I think it got me someone offering it, to boot! So win-win.
