I respond to comments up to a certain point. Sometimes I'll have a falling out with an old fandom and I won't even want to think about it anymore. I leave the old fic up because people still like to read it, but I don't like to talk about the canon or characters anymore, so I generally don't respond to comments on those fics anymore, either. If someone comments on a fic I wrote a few years ago, there's a good chance I won't respond. And sometimes I just forget (like I'll read the comment on my phone, decide to reply when I get home, and then...never do that) and then like 3 months will have passed and then it feels awkward.

This is what I do. I've left all my old FMA/Naruto/Bleach fic up but I am so far from being interested in those fandoms anymore, and when I get the occasional comment I either have zero desire to respond or just don't know how.
