I replied to comments on LJ all the time, but now that I'm posting fic pretty exclusively to AO3, I don't reply as often. It's harder to have a conversation on AO3, which was one of the things I really liked (and miss!) about LJ comment threads.

I still try to reply to all comments on exchange fics after the anon period ends. After about six months, though, I usually stop replying. I feel kind of bad about it because I do love getting comments on older fic, but enough time has elapsed between when I wrote the fic and when I got the comment that I don't always know what to say.
