One time I traded stories with my dentist and while it didn't default either of us, it did something weird on my dentist's account where the assignment still shows as open. As in the 'fulfill' and 'default' buttons reappeared and are still there. What that looks like on the mods' end, I have no idea, but it was years ago and no one's said anything.
