Despite the spitty rant I left upthread, I actually agree with you.I loved it the first time I watched it but heck if I knew what was going on with literally anybody.

I think it's mostly that fandom used to be very divided about who was resposible for The Fuck Ups and in what ways but it's recently settled mostly on the side of 'Brian was a crazy shit and it's all his fault' and I am on the opposite side of that divide, alone, shouty and bitter.

I feel ya. I've always really liked Brian (*cough*because he's David Bowie*cough*) and I don't think the fandom has a very sympathetic view of him because he's such a reserved and private character who doesn't reveal his true feelings much (unlike Curt, who's spilling everything everywhere, and Arthur, who is open and unpretentious). Like Bowie, he comes across as cold if you don't know what to look for. But those tears he cries when recording his song are clearly genuine.

I feel so bad for him. So bad. One yuletide I'm going to request a fluff fic where he stays with his first manager and they form a happy OT3 with Mandy and no one has to fake their own death and if someone's good enough to give it to me it'll heal a tiny wound in my soul.
