You can filter by update date? I know you can sort by most recently updated, but I didn't realize it was possible to filter "last week only" or "older than new development which jossed something" and sort by popularity within that group.

Here's ao3's response when I asked this question:

To do this:
1) Access the "Work Search" form: http://archiveofourown.org/works/search.
2) Type the desired time period in the “Date” field. For example, "< 1 week ago” would yield results from October 9 to October 16, 2017, if that was the date of the search. (Note that the "ago" is optional.)
3) Type the fandom and/or other preferred tags in the corresponding fields. (The auto-fill can provide you with relevant options once you start typing.)
4) Optionally, you can choose a desired "Sort by" option, such as "Kudos", in order to see the works with the highest number of kudos during that time period.

You can find more information about searching by date if you select the blue question mark symbol next to "Date" on the "Work Search" page. For instance, you can search for works posted between a certain range of dates, or by a number of days, months, or years ago.
