Answering this as someone who betas a lot for exchanges.

The FAQ suggests leaving out the beta’s name, because some people use the same beta for everything, and it can lead to identifying you to your recipient. I wouldn’t worry about it, if you don’t have a permanent beta.

I like knowing the prompts and DNWs of the work I’m betaing. It’s not necessary for me when I just do SPaG, but for flow, characterisation, etc. it’s very helpful to know what the recipient wants. Sometimes I just go through requests myself, instead of through the writer; and I don’t, when the writer is very clear on what they want me to focus on.
