Let’s say it’s a week before the collection opens, and I like someone’s prompt. I write them a madness treat, and the first draft is 370 words. I could try to fill it out with more detail, expand the timeline, or put in another POV. I could try to edit it down to exactly 100 words. Or I could revise not paying any attention to the length. In that situation, I (and I’m not speaking for anyone else here) tend to end up with the best quality story when I spend my revision time editing it down to 100. Of course, if someone had DNW drabbles in their letter, I would work on bulking it up instead, since that is their preference.

I love drabbles...but I’m also a thirsty bitch and want as much as I can get for my rare favs. I wouldn’t be mad to get your drabble but if I knew it could have been longer I would have felt like I played myself for not having drabbles as a dnw if that would have encouraged you to keep going :(
