(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)If both of the characters are female in the fic, even if not in canon, then that is femslash. If your fic is Rey/Kyla, it'll be femslash. Femslash exchanges disallow it not because it's not really femslash but because they want to focus on canonically female characters who in a lot of cases get less fandom attention than the males.
I don't have an objection to it not being included in the rules of the challenge, but I find the tone obnoxious and the idea that what would be requested in this instance not be femslash at least silly.
Re: Femslash Festivus
(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)But they don't say it's not femslash? They say "please be considerate and do not ask for genderbent versions of male characters". Which fits perfectly with "because they want to focus on canonically female characters who in a lot of cases get less fandom attention than the males".

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)The only reading I can make of your comment 'is it really?' is 'is it really (femslash).

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)Like, if it's always a girl, there isn't the aspect of guys magically turning into girls and still having all the socialized guy responses and actions. There characters are legitimately girls.
And by not allowing always a girl, so many fandoms are very restricted and you have fewer writers because there just aren't developed female characters with arcs and plots for themselves to work with. Yes, that sucks and it shouldn't be the case in the first place, but if you want to write based on a great, developed, fleshed out plot that had a male lead, why not be able to just make him a girl? There aren't many choices for girls in canons the general population consumes a lot of the time.
I write f/f with always a girl and still consider it legitimate f/f. I want a female Bond/Moneypenny, ffs.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)The 'collection' was a reply to the other exchanges referenced that don't allow it. The fact that there are coalies wanking about not being permitted to link their letters in a Dreamwidth post for possible inclusion into an opt-in tag is hilarious.
