I wouldn't call it avoiding, but there are a lot of fandoms that I enjoy reading that I just plain can't write.

Grumble mutter snarl. Yami no Matsuei just occurred to me as a possibility, but it looks like it's juuuuuuuuuuuust over the line this year, and will probably be even more so next year.

Your first solution definitely wouldn't work. The mods can read the stories and see who wrote them at any time. If a mod reads your epic Code Name Verity fingerbanging fic in November when it was posted by Socky McSockerson then it doesn't do any good to change the author to Coalie McRealName on January 1st. All that does is confirm to the mods that Socky McSockerson is CoalieMcRealName's dentist.

Doing it the second way wouldn't cause the sock to default and means the mods are less likely to notice the switch, but they can still check on the backend if their suspicions are aroused for some other reason, like if the story itself was wanky.

The only way to keep your socks completely secret from the mods is to leave the stories on the accounts that initially uploaded them. Anything else is dependent on the mods not caring enough to investigate.

It's been a while since I've read/watch, but basically there's a futuristic world where the elite keep people as furniture or pets. It's heavy on the not so consensual BDSM between an elite guy and a low class pet guy.

(Ai no Kusabi is really fucking old. It's dystopian sci-fi with some sort of blond ruling class and a whole bunch of dark-haired have-nots. Not really my thing, but it probably will be yours.)

I've seen one prompt which is definitely going on my treat list. Now I just have to steal a time-machine and get writing!

They released a new anime of it within the last few years, but if I recall it's not complete.

Shelter is hideously boring. It's the gay version of one of those movies where a Strong Female Character cleans up after her loser relatives but finds a Supportive Boyfriend who will stand by her. My least favorite genre ever! *snore*

OTOH, it's nice to see that people are making the gay version of that boring genre. If you like family drama, it's a well-made one, and you'll probably love it. (It's the genre that bores me, not the specific execution here.)

Yes. I have to write a yuletide fic longer than my letter.

When I was looking to see who had/had not commented last year, I saw a lot of archive-locked fics. I don't know whether they did that at the time or later, but it doesn't seem to be uncommon. I wouldn't worry about it. Anyone doing Yuletide has at least one AO3 account by definition.

That would make you a normal yuletide participant. Don't worry about it.

I already had my epic plotted out before Yuletide started. Luckily, I see a letter that matches it quite well, so I'm going to go ahead and write it for Yuletide.

A final option for week 28 is to have sense magic higher than 80 in week 17 then offer someone a job when the option comes up, but you will have to haul ass to become a lumen to make that check.

I got Monster Loves You last night because of that letter! I already knew and had played the hell out of the other three games, so I figured 'This lady has good taste, let's try that last one out.' Very cute! The one playthrough I had time for last night I successfully became an elder and made peace between humans and monsters, but for all that I never got too much respect from monsterkind. I found it weirdly cute that I became a half-and-half monster by merging with another slimeling trying to save it, with the message that we would never be apart again.
